worked on math
checked math boxes
had gwen come to the back with me and work with me because she needed help
many people asked for help with the breaking apart method but i never learned how to do that so i told them to ask miss b at the end of the day
i made sure that the rest of their boxes were right and if they were i starred them and sent them back to their seats
asked william if he was done he said no so i said he shouldnt be talking then
helped morgan with number 5
it was a chart and she didnt understand that you have to group sections together
i explained then she understood
reading workshop
read with noah
he was reading a book he got from the library so it wasnt his level
he needed help with lots of words

Students came back from recess
Watched Arbor Day Charlie Brown until JA got here
An emergency came up so the JA advisor couldn't make it
Moved onto science
Had to read a packet and watched video with groups
Miss B explained how that they could pause the video to write important info down
Explained how it is a group project so everyone needs to wait for each other to finish writing
Its not a big deal who gets the computer to watch the videos

The students were out at recess when I first came in so I just started working on my portfolio
They stayed out for a little bit longer because of the nice weather
When we came back inside we started reading workshop
Miss.B had conferences with some students
I took Bannon into the hallway because he was having troubles getting back into the swing of things now that PSSAs are over
He read to me in the hallway
He seemed to be focused because whenever I would ask him a question about the book he was reading he would answer the question correctly
After Bannon and I read about 4 chapters I met with Noah
Noah told me that he was going to read me his favorite book
He did really well and we got through 2 small books

we had health class today so until that time the students read
health teacher came into room to teach lesson about the stages in life
had students get into groups to give characterists of each age group
the students were talking but the teacher didnt say to stop talking
he just talked over them
i sat there and worked on my internship portfolio
after they were done miss b took them out for extra recess

prepped for pssas
we practiced doing an open response
i went around to make sure everyone was paying attention
miss b was walking them through how to do one
they have a poster with the steps on what to do
many students forgot simple things like period and captial letters
had to tell a student to erase what he had because it was wrong because he didnt follow along with miss b
had to tell several students to make sure that they are writing inside of the box anything on the outside doesnt count

since the kiddos have pssas this week the afternoons are very laid back
miss b had them do a reading workshop
i went around and read with students
many needed help on how to pronouce words
brain break
part of the class played math games on their computers
hald played math games with a partner
had to tell students several times to quiet down
the groups switched
i gave them a warning that if they didnt quiet down that they could go back to silent reading

We worked on an open response to the PSSAs
Miss B said that they needed more work on the open response
They followed an acronym
As I was walking around I noticed that the students were pretty much copying what Miss B had on her screen
Lots of students were forgetting periods and werent spelling things right
I would point it out to them and tell them that they really need to be paying attention
We had to have a student erase the things he put because he wasnt listening and didnt have the correct answer
He got mad at us but we told him that he should have been following along with us
We did a relaxing brain break
After we did our open response miss b just let the students work on the booklets they got today at their assembly
the students were very excited
the booklet had things like crosswords and wordfinds

pssa math open response
some students had to move around the room and others stayed at their desk with a privacy folder
since its math the students can ask for the question to be read to them
some of the students that should have had the questions read to them didn't
they should have had them read because they aren't the best readers
i had to have a student move because her and another student wouldn't stop talking
made a student turn his seat around so that he wasn't distracting the other student by making funny faces
made a student go back to his seat because he wouldn't stop talking to his friends
a student tried to use a ruler for the problem and i had to explain to her why she wasn't allowed to do that
i saw many students frustrated with the word problem but i couldn't help them because we aren't allowed to
they did a brain break once they were done because they were sitting for a long time
moved onto math games
they got to either do a card game or get on the computers
they were allowed to work with partners
miss b told two students that they couldn't work with each other because they wouldn't take it seriously

students came back from recess
bentley had them read their books because they have a guest coming in to talk to them about Alice
she explained to them that alice isnt a joke
they all started laughing when she explained to them that they might have to protect the door
she told them that this is what they would do if someone came into the building that wasnt supposed to be here
she also asked them to remember what alice stood for
they got all of the letters correct
she told them that when they are done they will move into reading workshop and then move onto their assembly which is outside
and then after the assembly they will have extra recess

When the kids came in from recess they read till book exchange
While at book exchange Bentley and I covered up all of the posters in the room that could
Potentially help the students while taking pssas
We do this so early so that the kiddos get use to things being covered up so it’s not such a big change
Then we moved onto practice for the pssas
They were doing the math part
They can’t get help but we can read the problem to them
We had multiple kids ask for the problem to be read to them
I had to say many times that the kiddos that they need to make sure that their bubbles are filled in the whole way
The one student got mad when I made him fill in his bubble but I still made him do it because that's how its going to be on the PSSAs
Bentley had to tell the students multiple times that they cant write on the test itself they have to do their work on their scratch paper

students did reading workshop while miss b took a phone call
i watched the class
had to tell ameila to keep reading and stop talking
word work
helped noah to make sure that he was fixing the correct things
finished the read aloud book 
started talking about how it was miss bs dog gotcha day yesterday
brain break
moved onto writing pieces

had to fill in missing words into sentences
math
checked math boxes
worked with 4 kids at the back table
all of the kids are working on the same problem
i noticed that they were all confised
i grabbed a whiteboard and did the problem with them
this was a better idea because i didnt have to repeat myself 4 different times
i got to say it once and all of the students understood
the girls werent working when i would check another students mb and i would tell them that they needed to work

we started with word work
i helped noah because sometimes he gets lazy and doesnt feel like erasing the work that is wrong
i stand behing him to make sure he is writing the correct thing
then we moved to math
i sat at the back table and had students come to me to get help woth their mb or get help
when i dont have any students that im working with i go around to make sure no one needs help
if no one needs help i wil check mb as the students are working
i was working with morgan and right away she said that she needed help
i told her that i wanted het to try the math boxes before i help her
the students dont really want to work they just want the teachers to do it for them
you have to be stern with them when they decide to goof off

had to wait for the kiddos to come back in from recess
they were all saying how its so col out
helped bannon and chase with their math boxes
had to tell morgan and ameila several times that they needed to stop talking and finish their math boxes
made morgan move because she wouldnt stop talking
made bannon rewrite his one answer because i couldnt read it
i told him that i know that he can write neater then that and he agreed with me
made chase write all of his work out on scratch paper instead of tring to squeeze it onto his paper
he had to do groups or 4 and 6 becasue he didnt know what 4x6 was
talked to miss b about how i think that bannon writes sloppy to get attention
she agrees with me
told william to get his math boxes back out becuase i didnt check them yet
he didnt fix the problems that i circled so i made him finish it
once i checked everyones math boxes i went to see what miss b was teaching her kiddos
she was teaching the higher level students how to multiple 2x2 diget numbers
some were dping lattice and some were ding that traditional way

after the kids came in from recess they went over their morning work
they have 2 sentences that they need to find where the mistakes are.
mistakes include, spelling,punctuation, grammar and more
most of the students found all of the errors
then the paper gives them a sentence and they need to circle which word fits in the blank
after that miss b read their new read aloud to them
while she was doing that i was ripping pages out of their math books and stapling them as their homework
when i was done with that i stuck them in their mailboxes
then we moved onto a comparison paper about diamond which is the main character in their book now and opal which was their main character in Winn Dixie
the students had to write a sentence about how they were similar and different
most of the students understood the topic but kiddos like noah needed extra help
mrs mummert helped noah write his sentences
i checked the students work to make sure they had the correct answers written down
miss b helped the lower level kids

The kiddos had book exchange
While they were at book exchange miss b and i talked about college
i explained to her that i have been considering switching majors
i told her its because i dont agree with all of the testing that they make the kids do
she said she doesnt agree with it either because they dont do anything with the assesssments they just make the kids take them and dont even look at what they did
then she said that even though its a lot of work its worth it and she wouldnt want to be doing anything else
when the kids got back from book exchange we started with math
i was checking mathboxes
i sit at the back table and when the students need checked i have them come get in a line at the table
if a student needs help i will have them sit back there with me and do the problem together
then once they are done with the probelm i have them go back to their seats
this avoids kids just sitting back there go get extra attention
some kids say that they need help with a problem before they even try to do it
i tell them that they need to at least try the problem before i help them
