 Today Mrs. Royer  asked me who I thought were comfortable working with. I had the option to choose between Tyler and Abigail. I said Tyler because he is easier to work with and since I don’t have much experience with Abigail I didn’t feel comfortable working with her alone. With Tyler we worked on addition with touch points. So I would write out an addition problem like 5+4=.  I would Then add the touch points to the numbers and he would count how many touch points are on each number and then write the answer at the bottom of the equation. And then read the equation back to himself. Let me work on recognizing coins and learning the names and how much they are worth. He’s also learning what the dollar and cents sign is.  After that we started to work on writing, every week Mrs. Royer crests new reading sheets for Tyler.  They include his site words. After he reads them and has a good job he can get a prize. Yesterday we were interrupted by Tyler having to go to recess with the other first grade class    So then I sat in on Mrs.Webb and Lakota. Lakota gets frustrated easily when he doesn’t want to do his work.  Mrs. Webb just stays on his keys and makes him do the work if you want to prize. Eventually  he straightened up and did his work.
